Remote Learning at Palace Wood Primary School
At Palace Wood Primary School, we are committed to ensuring that every child continues to receive a high-quality education should circumstances require the school, or part of the school, to close.
Our remote learning provision is designed to maintain pupils' learning, wellbeing, and connection with their teachers while working from home.
When Remote Learning Will Be Used
Remote learning may be implemented when:
- The school is required to close due to exceptional circumstances.
- A class or year group is unable to attend school.
- Individual pupils are unable to attend school for an extended period, where appropriate.
Parents and carers will be informed as soon as possible via our usual communication channels.
Accessing Learning
Learning will be provided through Microsoft Teams, where teachers will upload daily lessons, activities, and resources. Or our teachers may choose to email resources to you directly.
Pupils will receive work that reflects the curriculum being taught in school as closely as possible and will include a balance of:
- English
- Mathematics
- Reading
- Foundation subjects where appropriate
- Practical, creative, and physical activities
Daily Expectations
We encourage pupils to follow a regular daily routine similar to the school day. Families should aim to:
- Complete the activities provided each day.
- Read regularly.
- Submit completed work where requested.
- Take regular breaks and spend time being physically active.
We understand that every family's circumstances are different and will work with parents where flexibility is needed.
Feedback and Support
Teachers will review submitted work and provide feedback where appropriate. Pupils and families can contact the school if they require support with learning or accessing online resources.
If a child is finding work difficult, parents are encouraged to contact their class teacher so that additional support can be arranged.
Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of our pupils remains our highest priority during any period of remote learning.
All online communication between staff and pupils will take place through approved school platforms and in accordance with our safeguarding and online safety policies.
Any safeguarding concerns should continue to be reported to the school immediately.
Working Together
Successful remote learning relies on a strong partnership between school and home.
We ask parents and carers to:
- Encourage children to engage positively with their learning.
- Help establish a suitable learning routine where possible.
- Communicate with the school if support is needed.
Our staff will:
- Provide appropriate learning activities.
- Monitor engagement where possible.
- Offer support and guidance to pupils and families.
- Continue to promote children's wellbeing alongside their academic progress.
Thank you for your continued support.
By working together, we can ensure that every child continues to learn, achieve, and thrive, whatever the circumstances.
